Description

Merlin Soaring Association (MSA), located at picturesque Merlin Areodrome (2VA3), Amelia, Virginia, is a fantastic place for soaring pilots and students. MSA is a small club with around 15 members, three club gliders, a tow plane, two commercial pilots and a two Certified Flight Instructor - Glider (CFIG). We are centrally located in Virginia, near Richmond, Chesterfield, Henrico, and surrounding counties.

Our 3200' grass runway hearkens back to a simpler time, as do our gliders. Once we release from tow, generally around 2,000 - 3,000 feet above the field, we rely on lifting air to keep us up and looking over the farms and fields.

We encourage folks to come out and visit Merlin. If you are interested in a ride in a glider, we have a couple of different packages, you can see the details on our Experience Flights page. Current pilots looking for a new club or to rent a glider while in town are welcome at Merlin. Our Operations page has information about our hours, staff, and directions to Merlin Aerodrome. Our Gliders page has photos and descriptions of our three club gliders. If you are interested in learning to fly, see our Instruction page. Members of MSA can access members only information in our Members Section while everyone is welcome to read our Daily Ops logs where we recap the day's flightsMerlin Soaring Association (MSA), located at picturesque Merlin Areodrome (2VA3), Amelia, Virginia, is a fantastic place for soaring pilots and students.
